Ce rev\u00eatement, qui pourrait r\u00e9volutionner l\u2019industrie de la climatisation, utilise un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne scientifique fascinant : le refroidissement radiatif passif.<\/p>\n<p>Le secret r\u00e9side dans la combinaison de deux mat\u00e9riaux : le fluorure de polyvinylid\u00e8ne (PVDF) et des matrices nanoporeuses en oxyde d\u2019aluminium. Ces structures, con\u00e7ues avec une pr\u00e9cision microscopique, permettent au mat\u00e9riau de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir 82,4 % du rayonnement solaire tout en \u00e9mettant 96,7 % du rayonnement thermique dans une fen\u00eatre infrarouge sp\u00e9cifique (8 \u00e0 13 microm\u00e8tres). C\u2019est comme si le mat\u00e9riau pouvait \u00ab respirer \u00bb la chaleur en la renvoyant directement dans l\u2019espace.<\/p>\n<p>Les tests, r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sur le toit d\u2019un centre de recherche pr\u00e8s de Madrid, ont confirm\u00e9 les promesses th\u00e9oriques. Sous un rayonnement solaire de 962 W\/m\u00b2, le mat\u00e9riau a r\u00e9duit la temp\u00e9rature de la surface de 12,9 \u00b0C par rapport \u00e0 un \u00e9chantillon non trait\u00e9. Cette performance, qui atteint une capacit\u00e9 th\u00e9orique de refroidissement de 182,3 W\/m\u00b2, pourrait r\u00e9duire la d\u00e9pendance aux syst\u00e8mes de climatisation classiques, responsables de 20 % de la consommation mondiale d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Les applications sont multiples : toits de b\u00e2timents, carrosseries de voitures, syst\u00e8mes \u00e9lectroniques, voire m\u00eame des v\u00eatements. Si la production reste \u00e0 optimiser pour atteindre un co\u00fbt industriel comp\u00e9titif, les perspectives sont prometteuses. Ce mat\u00e9riau pourrait non seulement \u00e9conomiser de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, mais aussi att\u00e9nuer l\u2019impact environnemental des villes en surchauffe. Et si la science continue sur cette piste, qui sait ?
